About Weiland’s
Weiland’s Market was founded in 1961 by John Williams and George Weiland. We started as a small market called Weiland’s Fine Meats at West Beaumont & High Street in Clintonville.
In 1962, we moved to our second, larger location at Indianola Avenue & Garden Road, and over time added more groceries, seafood, a deli and produce. This location was expanded three times before we moved to our current home at 3600 Indianola Ave in 1999.
John Williams continued to run Weiland’s for years in conjunction with his business partners, Tim Teegardin and Dave Friend.
In August 2011, John passed Weiland’s on to the next generation: his daughter, Jennifer Williams, and her husband, Scott Bowman. Scott and Jennifer had met at Weiland’s years ago when she was helping at the store and Scott was working as a butcher, but both eventually left to pursue other careers. Years later as owners, they updated the store while staying true to the ethos of the business: building local relationships, and valuing customers above everything else.
John Williams, a third-generation grocer, was passionate about Weiland’s and the customers he had served his entire life; he continued to come in to help on the meat counter or talk with customers until he passed away in June 2016. Many of the business partnerships he formed decades ago are still proudly maintained to this day.
In April 2024, Jennifer and Scott passed Weiland’s on to two long-time managers, Daniel Phillips and Andy Russell. By this time, the business had grown from 4,500 square feet and 17 employees to just under 19,000 square feet and 90 employees in just 25 years.
Daniel, Andy, and the entire team proudly carry on the Weiland’s tradition. We work hard to provide excellent customer service and a wide range of delicious foods and beverages. If there is any way we can serve you, please let us know!
